Bass Guitar Magazine is delighted to announce that the legendary Peter Hook will be giving a masterclass at the London Bass Guitar Show 2013, set for 2 and 3 March at London’s prestigious Olympia venue. Hook, who found long-lasting acclaim as a founder member of both Joy Division and New Order, has forged an identifiable bass style over the years, lending seminal records such as ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, ‘Regret’, ‘Atmosphere’ and ‘True Faith’ their melodic content courtesy of his high-register bass parts. He has also fronted bands such as Revenge and Monaco over his three-decade career, and is now playing with The Light, performing Joy Division and New Order albums in full. You can also see Hooky playing live at London Koko on 17 January.
Hook joins an ever-growing cast of bass players at the London Bass Guitar Show 2013, making it the bass event of the year, however you look at it. Nate Watts, David Ellefson, Guy Pratt, Lee Rocker, Jah Wobble, Wojtech Pilichowski and now Hooky combine to give you absolutely no excuse for not being there, especially as a huge range of exhibitors and the industry’s biggest manufacturers, from Fender to Warwick and beyond, will be there to talk bass with you. We will also be joined by Status Graphite, whose stand will feature the full selection of 30th Anniversary Series-2 basses plus the latest signature models for Chris Wolstenholme (Muse), Mark King (Level 42) and John ‘Rhino’ Edwards (Status Quo). Most of Status’s other models will also be on view.
Tom Stenback Ltd from Finland will also be at the LBGS. For those new to Tom’s work, he is a bass instrument and bass audio equipment designer and maker with a particular focus on design, sound, and ergonomics. For info and tickets, visit the website.
