Mark White of the Spin Doctors talks the low end

spin doctors

I slap because I totally love the way it sounds, especially on a Fender Jazz and a Musicman. The secret of playing bass well is listening and having a good idea what everybody else is doing. My first bass was a 100-dollar Epiphone right-handed bass which my friend reversed the strings on so I wouldn’t go through the pain of having the E string on the bottom. My bass heroes are Mark Adams, Bernard Edwards, Jaco Pastorius, Kim Clarke, Larry Ross and Victor Wooten. Children don’t learn to speak by going to school, they learn to speak by listening and trying to mimic what they hear.
