“I’m super excited to be heading back for the ultimate bass summit, the London Bass Guitar Show!” says Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, who last played the LBGS back in 2013. “I love the diversity of players, styles and cultures who make an annual pilgrimage to the UK for this amazing event. Celebrating all things bass, this show has grown to massive proportions and should not be missed.”
“For the clinic, I will be talking about my Petite Suite for solo bass – and playing most of it!” says bass legend Stu Hamm. “I’ve always enjoyed my time at the London Bass Guitar Show – I can’t wait to get back and see the many friends I have there!”
“In 2008 I released my first solo album, Marmelade, because I wanted to do my own music: a funk album with a lot of bass on it,” recalls Ida Nielsen, best known for her expert bass playing in Prince’s backing trio, 3rd Eye Girl. “I didn’t care if no-one wanted to listen to it, I just wanted to finally play the way I wanted. That brought me a lot of attention, so I started doing a lot of clinics and I started working with TC Electronic. I recorded a lot of videos for them, which went on Youtube around 2010 – and that was how Prince found me. See you at the LBGS for these stories and more!”
“I’m really excited to be appearing at the London Bass Guitar Show 2017,” says funked-up Warwick warrior Shez. “I’ll be dropping some heavy-duty Indo-jazz-funk on the Main Stage with my band, the Shez Raja Collective, as well as holding a Masterclass on inspiration and creativity. It’s a real honour to be a part of this amazing event, and I can’t wait to hang out with all my bass brothers and sisters!”
Other artists will be announced in due course, some of the biggest names in bass world among them – and as if that weren’t enough, we’ve expanded the LBGS for you this year. In addition to the usual mindblowing roster of Main Stage and Masterclass performances, we’re offering you a full programme of bass education sessions at a brand-new Bass Workshop with Scott’s Bass Lessons. Scott Devine himself, alongside a stellar bass cast of Cody Wright, Chris May, Steve Lawson and Phil Mann, will be teaching us invaluable tips and tricks. Bring your own bass so you don’t miss out!
We’re also introducing the Luthiers’ Room, where none other than Holger Sandberg of Sandberg Guitars will be teaching showgoers about setting up bass guitars and troubleshooting common gear problems. We’ll be in the front row!
