To extreme metal fans, Frank Watkins needs no introduction, writes Jeremy Wagner of Broken Hope. He played bass in both Obituary and Gorgoroth and managed and guided numerous bands and musicians with his company, Back From The Dead Productions. Frank was very passionate about the bass guitar, and we often discussed basses, rigs and gear. Days before Frank died, one of his final wishes was to get a brand-new ESP FB-4 bass guitar, so as I’m an ESP-endorsed artist, I bought Frank this model at a discount and shipped overnight to him. I was told by his family that it brightened his final days. I’m so happy I did that for him. The last time I saw Frank, he was on stage last year with Gorgoroth at Hellfest in France, kicking ass and living his life to its fullest. Frank told me his own father was in the music business in New York City, and that his dad inspired him to be a musician. Frank, your father would be most proud of your legacy. I send my condolences and love to Frank’s wife, two sons and family.
