Fender has been busy lately. The guitar giant’s Custom Shop 2013 Custom Collection includes two tasty-looking new basses in the form of the 2013 Closet Classic Precision Bass Pro, a premium alder bass with black nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a 20-fret maple neck with a 1960 Oval ‘C’ back shape and 20 frets, two Seymour Duncan stacked 1951 pickups with vintage Jazz bass wiring (bet that got your attention), dual volume controls and a master tone control.
There’s also a 1951 Relic Precision with a slab ash body in ‘Aged Lake Placid Blue’, ‘Melon Candy’ or ‘Candy Tangerine’, a single Seymour Duncan pickup and gold hardware and pickguard. Fender is also offering a Select Active Jazz, also with an alder body, a flame maple top and a hand-stained sunburst finish, and maple neck graphite support rods. Additional features include dual single-coil pickups, an active/passive minitoggle switch, a master volume knob and pickup pan knob, and three-band active EQ. We’ll take all three, thanks.
