Andy Till is a professional bass guitarist experienced in live work, recording playing in the U.K and Europe.
Andy started to play bass at school in Macclesfield in Cheshire playing along to bass lines from Sting and Police records and then taking on further lessons on the bass.
Before playing and making the move to the bass guitar full time Andy played drums for nine years around the Cheshire and Manchester area. Andy is influenced by drummers Steve White and Steve Gadd. Andy's years of drumming has given his bass playing a good foundation in working with the drummer within a band.
From his early days at school taking up the bass guitar, Andy started to play with various bands playing covers and origional music, writing songs and playing live.
Andy's first band was Stafford unsigned band Indigo Blue. The band played and recorded with live tours in the unsigned venues.
After this band Andy joined professional Derbyshire Motown band PP & The Floorshakers and went on the road full time to eventually move on to work with various working and professional bands.
Andy's bass work has coverd Soul, Motown, Pop, Rock, Blues, Swing and disco styles and has played and worked with acts George Agan and his band, Tipitina jazz/blues band, Mr Methane, Ste Mak of BBMak, Groove Nation, Pimpin Joe session band, John Mcalpine, Josh's band (worlds biggest superband) to name a few. Along with playing in the U.K and Europe Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands performing festivals, universitys, unsigned venues, live venues Andy has featured on televison and live DVD and music video's featuring in televison adverts featuring: T Mobile Advert, BBC, BBC London Tonight, ITV, Channel Four, Bubble Hits and working with Big Fish Promotions, Thirteen Films and Saatchi & Saatchi.
Influences as a bass player is Motown and James Jamerson, Sting and The Police, Carole Kaye, Phil H Mitchell from Dr Feelgood, The Jam, Paul McCarteny and the Beatles and taking influences from what sounds and feels good.
With a bass style that plays for the song Andy beleives that playing for the song is important and with the musicians involved. Getting the right feel and tight with the drummer. Andy has recorded and worked for what is required and asked to play on a recording session along with freedom to create aswell.
Andy's style is feel and what is required for the song and music.
Bass gear for the last six years is a USA Fender Jazz (1975 Reissue) and Ampeg set up along with various other amps. Other bases Andy has played are Fender USA P- basses, Rickenbacker.
Along with Andy's playing Andy has a interest in writing and has had various bass articles and interviews featured at websites. Andy continues to write about the bass guitar and music with more features and articles in progress.
